Chess at Schools

We have found that chess fits very neatly into school education programmes, complementing activities such as dance, music, sport and drama to give every student a chance to excel.

If you do not already have a chess coaching programme in your school, we would be delighted to design and tailor one to your school's needs. This could incorporate one or more of the broad teaching strategies that have been successfully adopted by other Queensland schools, including:

  • Chess within the curriculum
  • Extra-curricular chess
  • Within a maths extension course
  • As part of a gifted and talented programme
  • As part of a special needs programme
  • During special activity times
  • Coaching before, during or after school
Well-documented evidence from academic research supports our experience that children who learn to play chess can benefit in many different ways. Therefore, a healthy chess culture within every school in Far North Queensland is our goal.
